You may not think there is a difference between a peace officer and a law enforcement officer, but unfortunately there is. At least that is how it appears. Of course not all police officers act like this. But why do we allow the idiots who do continue in their job? Take the following story and you decide what should have been this police officer's first concern. A ticket for violating traffic rules or the health and well being of a fellow human being. It's as simple as that.

There can be no excuse for this kind of behavior by police to continue. At times, the Constitution is secondary and perhaps non-existent in police work today. Yet, like all other public employees, police officers take an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution and of the state in which they willl serve. Where do those documents say that traffic violations take precedence over the well being of a person in dire straits?
In our opinion, all police work should come through the county sheriff. All city departments should be abandoned and/or switched over to the respective counties and the police officers sworn in as deputies to the sheriff. That way, We the People will have more control over the law enforcement industry because the sheriff is directly responsible to the people he serves. The sheriff is elected by the people and he is impeachable - if necessary. Therefore, he will have a stake in the behavior of his deputies. We have friends in the law enforcement field that we are sure we will hear from about this article. But they must uphold their oath to Constitution and to serve and protect.
